Game On Review

“Game On” is the third book in the Into Darkness trilogy, and is an enemies to lovers, dark romance.

The FMC Stella comes from an affluent background and is intent on making ends meet without the help of her family. Because of her traumatic past, Stella has broken away from everything that her family’s lifestyle has to offer. She is the owner of her own tattoo parlor, and when the morally grey MMC Tyler comes in for a consultation, her life will change forever.

Tyler is looking to gain revenge on the father he has never met, and in order to do so he approaches Stella with a deal… and some blackmail. Leaving Stella with no choice, she is forced to play the role of his girlfriend and bring Tyler into the world of the rich and powerful. As tensions rise between the fake couple, they find it increasingly difficult to keep their hands, and mouths off each other.

With Tyler’s threats, Stella must find a way to  re-immerse into the life of the wealthy, and face her trauma head on. For Tyler to execute his revenge he needs to gain trust of those in Stella’s affluent circle, and bring them into his underground gambling ring. But will everything go as planned? Or will his desire for Stella draw him away from his end goal?

Now, my review..

The positives:

  • The banter was bantering! This couple was so much fun and I loved the way they interacted.
  • Navessa Allen did a great job of writing a true morally grey MMC. There were times I really hated Tyler – and truthfully, I loved that. He was such an ass, but throughout the story we start to see the softer sides of him.
  • The spicy scenes were very unexpected in the best way, Navessa absolutely wrote this book with the bisexual baddies in mind.
  • I loved seeing both the growth and regression of Stella, it made her feel so real to see her falter with her struggles. Growth is not linear and it was nice to see a character that reflected that

The negatives:

  • Nothing, Navessa Allen can do no wrong with me.

Overall, I loved “Game On” and it has quickly become my favorite book of the Into Darkness series. I didn’t think anything in this series would be able to top “Lights Out”. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the dark romance genre, but please make sure you check the trigger warnings before diving in.
